A lifelong love of theatre often starts with a school bus ride to see a student matinee performance at the Playhouse. These matinees are the same professional productions staged for evening and weekend audiences. Regular student matinee performances begin at 10 a.m., and tickets are $15 each. For every 15 paid student tickets, one complimentary ticket is provided. A $12.50-processing fee is added to each order.
Made possible by generous support from KeyBank.
Every classroom is eligible for a FREE workshop!
The Scripps Howard Foundation Class Act! Program includes free pre- and/or post-show workshops for individual classrooms. Prioritizing the standards of the Common Core, each 45 to 60-minute workshop features one of our trained arts educators who use drama techniques and other arts-related activities to expand on the subjects in the educators' guide and production. These workshops are limited only by our resources, so it's first-come, first-serve. Workshops can be booked with your student matinee performance.
We support student matinees with a range of resources that extend and deepen the theatre experience and connect it to the classroom. These include:
• Educators' Guides
• Post-show Q&A sessions with the actors
• Copies of the play script
• FREE pre- and/or post-show workshops
Registration for the 2017-18 student matinees will be available beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, or in-person at the Playhouse’s Educator Reception on Monday, May 1.

The Playhouse cannot accommodate motor coach and bus parking onsite. Motor coaches and buses must arrive early to secure parking in Eden Park. We suggest bus drivers turn onto Mt. Adams Drive and allow students to disembark by the steps. Then park along that drive. Arrival by 9:30 a.m. is strongly encouraged.
