TRAVEL THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS AT PLAYHOUSE IN THE PARK WITH ALICE’S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND, DECEMBER 20-23 AND 26-30

(CINCINNATI) — New this year, the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park’s popular Rosenthal Next Generation Theatre Series for children will include a special holiday production perfect for the entire family, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. One of the most beloved stories of all time, the show will be performed daily at 10:30 a.m. in the Playhouse’s Marx Rehearsal Hall beginning December 20 to 23 and continuing from December 26 to 30.

Written by Deborah Lynn Frockt and adapted from the stories by Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland comes to life in this charming theatrical adaptation. Bored and in search of excitement, Alice gets more than she bargains for when she tumbles down an unassuming rabbit hole. There, she discovers a world like nothing she’s ever known, populated with unforgettable characters including the White Rabbit, Cheshire Cat, Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts and more. Alice finds that little is what it seems in this mixed-up place of fantasy and topsy-turvy fun.

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is recommended for ages four and up. The show features the Skilken/Brown Touring Company of the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park.

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland first was published in 1865 and never since has been out of print. Its text has been translated into more than 50 languages, and the story adapted into numerous film and theatrical versions. Playwright Deborah Lynn Frockt’s other works include When I Grow Up, I'm Gonna Get Some Big Words; The Book of Ruth and Winnie-the-Pooh, which were commissioned and premiered at Seattle Children’s Theatre. Her plays have been seen at Actors Theatre of Louisville, Alliance Theatre Company, Alabama Shakespeare Festival and Stage One, among others.

Made possible by the Lois and Richard Rosenthal Foundation, the Rosenthal Next Generation Theatre Series involves youngsters in the excitement of theatre. To ensure the enjoyment of all in attendance, parents are asked not to bring children younger than the ages recommended for each production.

Tickets for Alice's Adventures in Wonderland are just $5 for theatregoers ages 4 to 18 and $6 for adults through the Playhouse box office at 513/421-3888 or toll-free in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, 800/582-3208. Tickets also are available through the Playhouse web site at www.cincyplay.com. Parking is free.

Playhouse artists fly Delta Connection Comair, the Playhouse’s official airline.

The Playhouse is supported, in part, by the generosity of the tens of thousands of individuals and businesses that give to the Fine Arts Fund.

The Ohio Arts Council helps fund the Playhouse with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.
