Synopsis

24,000 miles. 39 characters. Five actors. Two fun-packed magical hours. Join Phileas Fogg on the world’s original amazing race. In England in 1872, Phileas Fogg is the most exact of men. Well traveled, very wealthy and with no friends or relatives of which to speak, he keeps his days on the most precise of schedules and spends his evenings at the local Reform Club.

One day at the club, the discussion is more lively than usual. The newspapers are full of headlines about a local bank thief, a gentleman, on the run from the police. Two men discussing the crime assert that, with the advent of new transportation, the world has grown smaller than ever before and argue that the police will find it difficult to keep up with the robber. A reference is made to a recent story in the Daily Telegraph that estimated a man could literally travel around the world in 80 days. The two men disagree as to whether this is possible, with Fogg asserting that it is. He enters into a wager with the men, betting 20,000 pounds that he himself could complete the journey in that time. The race is on.

Via rail, boat, sled, rangoon and even elephant, Fogg must travel the globe in just 80 days or forfeit a fortune. But a snooping detective who believes Fogg might be the thief, a possible human sacrifice, a runaway train and even the will of Mother Nature all conspire against Fogg’s adventure of a lifetime, threatening not only his journey but also the heart of the woman he loves. This high-spirited, fast-moving and highly imaginative show is a hilariously entertaining comedy.
