Once on This Island

Asada Austin

Asada is excited to be Little Ti Moune in Once on This Island at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. She has been at the School for Creative and Performing Arts since kindergarten and, since that time, has been cast in every school play she auditioned for! In addition to her acting, Asada is also a dancer and model for the Heyman Talent Agency. Her commercial credits include Highlights magazine and Coney Island amusement park. In addition to her commercial work, Asada dances with Cincinnati’s own Q-Kidz Dance Team and has opened for Kidz Bop. She has been dancing, acting and singing since she was 3 years old, and she dedicates all her performances to her mom and brother. Follow Asada on Instagram @austinasada.

Christina Booker

Christina is thrilled to be making her musical theatre debut with Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park! She is a recent graduate of the University of Louisville where she received her MM in Vocal Performance. She recently performed as a soloist for Bach’s Magnificat in D major and Vivaldi’s Gloria in D major at the Teatro Nacional de Costa Rica and as a Guest Artist with Kentucky Opera’s educational tour of Oh! Freedom! Her opera roles include Belinda in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, Veronique in Bizet’s Le Docteur Miracle, Aline in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Sorcerer, and Amanda/Ameliora in Sterling Tinsley’s Daniel and the Dreamcatcher. She has also been a featured soloist in choral masterworks such as Mozart’s Requiem in D minor. Christina served for two years as a member and soloist with the University of North Alabama’s Walk with Me Foundation’s choir, SOLAS, which performed across North Alabama and Mississippi. She also holds a Master’s in Education with a concentration in Kodály Music Education from Loyola University in Maryland and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama.

Sharon Catherine Brown

Sharon makes her Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park debut fresh from her Broadway run in the GoGos musical Head Over Heels. She toured as The Blues Singer in A Night with Janis Joplin and recently played Karen in the off-Broadway comedy Chick Flick. The native New Yorker was the first African American to play Lucy in Frank Wildhorn's Jekyll & Hyde. Sharon was the Seasons of Love soloist in Rent with Neil Patrick Harris. Her Broadway credits include Effie in Dreamgirls and The Narrator in Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Other theatre appearances include Sister Rosetta Tharpe in Lawdy Miss Clawdy, Velma in Crowns, Georgina in Hallelujah Baby!, one of the featured female lead in Smokey Joe’s Café and Robert Barry Fleming’s twin sister Glory in Thunder Knocking at The Door — and they are still twinning! Sharon’s film and television credits include Etta Jones in HBO's Introducing Dorothy Dandridge, Sister Act 2: Back in The Habit and Angela the opera diva in A Different World. Colin Carswell

Lauren Chanel

Lauren is thrilled to be making her Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park debut as Ti Moune in Once on This Island! Playing this role has been a long-time dream and she finally gets to cross it off her bucket list! Lauren is a graduate of Pebblebrook High School Center of Excellence in Performing Arts. She studied classical, opera and musical theatre vocal techniques, as well as multiple genres of dance and drama. She is currently a member of AGI Entertainment and is represented by J. Pervis Talent Agency and Natarsha Garcia, CMA Entertainment. Rheaume Crenshaw

Rheaume is happy to be making her Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park debut. Her Broadway credits include Groundhog Day and Amazing Grace. Other New York appearances include Don’t Bother Me, I Can’t Cope (NYCC Encores!) and Alternating Currents (Working Theater). Rheaume was most recently seen in the first national tour of Waitress and Road Show (NYCC Encores). Bre Jackson

Bre is thrilled to be making her Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park debut! She has most recently been seen on Broadway in The Book of Mormon as an ensemble member. Her performance as Ado Annie in Denver Center for the Performing Arts’ Oklahoma! garnered her a Henry Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical. She has also been seen in NBC’s Emmy Award-winning Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert as well as a featured soloist on season two of CBS’s The Good Fight. Morgan O. Reynolds

Morgan couldn't be happier to present her talents in Once on This Island at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. She is a native Cincinnatian and attends the School for Creative and Performing Arts, where she currently studies drama, dance, creative writing and, her favorite, science. Morgan has accomplished four years of piano lessons and performed in the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company production of Fences, and Annie Hard Knock Life (Cincinnati Black Theatre) and Captain Roger's Great Space Adventures (Milford Theatre Guilde). Lynn Ahrens

Lynn Ahrens won Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards and received two Grammy nominations for Broadway's Ragtime. She and longtime collaborator Stephen Flaherty received the Oscar Hammerstein Award for Lifetime Achievement, and in 2015 they were inducted into the Theater Hall of Fame. Stephen Flaherty

Stephen Flaherty is the composer of the Broadway musicals Ragtime (Tony, Drama Desk, OCC Awards, two Grammy nominations), Seussical (Grammy, Drama Desk nominations), Once on This Island (Tony nomination, Olivier Award, Best Musical) and Rocky. Additional Broadway includes Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life (original songs) and Neil Simon's Proposals (incidental music). Stephen has also written four musicals at Lincoln Center Theatre: The Glorious Ones (OCC, Drama Desk nominations), Dessa Rose (OCC, Drama Desk nominations), A Man of No Importance (OCC, Best Musical, Drama Desk nomination) and My Favorite Year. Robert Barry Fleming

Robert, the Artistic Director of Actors Theatre of Louisville, served as the Director of Artistic Programming at Arena Stage and the Associate Artistic Director at Cleveland Play House. Directing/choreography credits include Native Gardens, The Royale and Between Riverside and Crazy (Cleveland Play House); Next to Normal (Tantrum Theater); Destiny of Desire (Oregon Shakespeare Festival); and Caroline, or Change (Tantrum Theater). Andrew Smithson

Andrew is pleased to join Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park as Music Director and Conductor. National tour credits include Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (starring Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young), A Christmas Story: The Musical, Gypsy, Aida (China and Taiwan), Legally Blonde and Jesus Christ Superstar starring Ted Nealy. Off-Broadway credits include The Wonderful Wizard of Song and Flanagan’s Wake. Regional credits include Hedwig and the Angry Inch (Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati), Melancholy Play: a chamber musical (Trinity Repertory Company), White Christmas, Ain’t Misbehavin’, The Full Monty, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Swing!, A Chorus Line and The Producers. Jason is an Emmy Award-winning set and production designer based in New York. Lex Liang

Lex is delighted to be back at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, having last designed Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery. His work includes scenic and costume design for performance-based productions. To date, his New York City/off-Broadway credits exceed over 50 productions and his most recent work includes Antigone, Nine Circles and The Bacchae. Daniel Perelstein

Daniel is a freelance sound designer, composer and musical director based in Tucson and Philadelphia. Dan is pleased to return to Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park after last season's Tiny Houses. Recent designs and/or original music include Roundabout Theatre Company, Primary Stages, McCarter Theatre, Opera Philadelphia, Geva Theatre, Philadelphia Theatre Company, Wilma Theater, Arden Theatre, People’s Light and others. Daniel is an Associate Artist at the Wilma Theater and he teaches sound design to undergraduates at Washington College in Maryland. He has received Barrymore Awards for Don Juan… at the Wilma Theater and Knives in Hens at Theatre Exile, as well as 16 Barrymore Award nominations in three categories. Daniel received an Independence Foundation Fellowship in 2013. He is a graduate of Swarthmore College, where he earned a BS in Engineering and a BA in Music.

Stephanie Klapper, CSA

Michael Morgan

Michael is currently the studio professor of voice and speech at the University of California Santa Barbara. Previously, he has taught at Penn State, Yale, Temple, Theatre Conservatorium in Brussels, Royal Conservatoire in Liege, Arena Stage, Neighborhood Playhouse, University of Hawaii, University of California San Diego, California Institute for the Arts and Shanghai Theatre Academy. Michael is a graduate from NYU/Tisch School of the arts, a designated Linklater teacher and a Fitzmaurice master teacher. He has authored the book, Fitzmaurice Voicework: Constructing the Holistic Actor. As an actor, Michael has performed with the Independent Shakespeare Company, Mark Taper Forum, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, LA Classical Theater Lab, California Shakespeare Festival, La Jolla Playhouse, Sierra Repertory Theater, People’s Light and Theater Company, Yale Rep, Shakespeare and Company, Red Pear Theatre in the South of France, La Mama ETC, Richard Allen Center, the Spring Street Gallery in A Photograph directed by Anna Devere Smith, and Ensemble Studio Theater. Michael started in children’s theatre and later went on to perform nationally with The City Street Theater, a company that dealt with social/political issues. Brooke Redler

Brooke is pleased to return for her fifth season with Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. Her off-Broadway credits include Breathing Time, The Faire and From White Plains (production stage manager, Fault Line Theatre). Regional theatre credits include In The Heights, Million Dollar Quartet, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Summerland and Native Gardens (Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park); Hair: Retrospection, Stillwater, The Whipping Man, August: Osage County, Cabaret and five seasons of A Christmas Carol (production stage manager, Kansas City Repertory Theatre); Peter and the Starcatcher and Richard II (Utah Shakespeare Festival); Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike (Center Stage in Baltimore); The Drowsy Chaperone, Is He Dead? and Harry the Great (Creede Repertory Theatre). Assistant stage management credits include Our Town, A Flea in Her Ear, Clay, Jitney and Love, Janis (Kansas City Repertory Theatre); and work at Starlight Theatre, Stages St. Louis and Heart of America Shakespeare Festival. Brooke also has worked in opera, with credits including Moscow, Cherry Town and Medea (PSM, Opera Long Beach); and Ariadne Auf Naxos, The Coronation of Poppea, Frida, Die Fledermaus and Tosca (ASM, Cincinnati Opera). She also spent two seasons at The Santa Fe Opera.

Jenifer Morrow

A proud member of Actors’ Equity Association for 30 years, Jenifer has been a stage manager at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park since 1994. She became the PSM (head of the department) in 2005. Jenifer has worked on more than 100 productions, including a number of regional and world premieres, and has traveled to several other theatres to bring co-productions back to the Playhouse. Her recent credits include Tiny Houses; August Wilson’s Two Trains Running; The Second City — It's Not You, It's Me; Cincinnati King; Misery; Murder for Two; Marie and Rosetta; An Evening With Groucho; Shakespeare in Love; Little Shop of Horrors; The Second City’s Holidazed & Confused Revue; A Prayer for Owen Meany; To Kill a Mockingbird; The Secret Garden; and Tenderly: The Rosemary Clooney Musical. Jenifer served as the PSM at Santa Fe Stages for several seasons. She has also stage managed at Cleveland Play House, La Jolla Playhouse, Theatre de la Jeune Lune, Long Wharf Theatre, Goodspeed Opera House, Virginia Shakespeare Festival, The Ordway and Players Theatre Columbus. One of her most memorable experiences was stage managing the U.K. tour of Miss Evers’ Boys at The Barbican Centre in London and at the historic Bristol Old Vic.
