After School Drama Classes

Join us for After School Drama Classes at Your School!

At Playhouse, we believe everyone has a voice. Our acting classes are designed to build confidence, strengthen communication skills and develop a sense of ensemble and community. Programs focus on individual and collective skill development in a fun and supportive environment. Each session of classes focuses on a particular set of theatricals skills – Acting, Movement/Voice and Improvisation – and provides a rich learning experience. The class sessions build upon one another and provide a well-rounded foundation.

After School Drama Classes are currently available for students at these partner schools:

Please note that school-based classes are only available for students currently enrolled in those schools. If you would like to bring Playhouse After School Drama Classes to your school, please contact education@cincyplay.com for more information.

Each child acting class tuition includes a $25, non-refundable registration fee. Cancellations prior to the first day of class will be honored with a refund, minus the $25 non-refundable registration fee. Cancellations after the first class will receive a pro-rated refund, minus the first class and the $25 non-refundable registration fee. There will be no refunds given after the second class.

In the case of inclement weather, families will be advised via email and text regarding the cancellation of class. We will follow what the students' school decides, and will do our best to make up for the missed class. If a make-up class is not possible, a pro-rated refund will be provided.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

EARLY CHILDHOOD

Our 30-minute classes for young children focus on social and artistic development through imagination, theatre games and a visual art component. We teach students how to work as an ensemble and use their voices, bodies and imaginations to create tell stories and go on imaginary adventures.

LOWER ELEMENTARY

Our 45-minute classes for young performers focus on social and artistic development through creative dramatics, improvisation and theatre games. We teach students how to band together as an ensemble and use their voices, bodies and imaginations to create complex tales and characters.

UPPER ELEMENTARY

Our 55-minute classes for young performers focus on developing the craft and technique of acting and specialty subjects that can include voice, movement, improvisation, stage combat and make-up through fun exploration and ensemble building. We value process over product as young actors develop skills and confidence.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Our 90-minute classes for young performers developing the craft of performance technique including acting, rehearsal, script analysis, blocking and character development. Our musical theatre performance workshops include instruction in dance and singing. The learning goals for this program emphasize understanding the process of developing a character, putting scenes together and working as an ensemble.
