Step into the spotlight with Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park for the second annual Center Stage — an unforgettable evening of music, glamour, and generosity, all unfolding on the Moe and Jack’s Place—The Rouse Theatre stage. After last year’s sold-out debut, the curtain rises once again for an exclusive benefit concert and dinner featuring Broadway sensation Javier Muñoz, who captivated audiences as Hamilton’s title role and In the Heights’ beloved Usnavi. In addition, we will welcome you for a sparkling cocktail reception, a sumptuous on-stage dinner artfully crafted by Chef Renée Schuler of Eat Well Celebrations & Feasts, and a few surprises worthy of the spotlight. Come celebrate the Playhouse and help us set the stage for the future of live theatre in Cincinnati.
Javier Muñoz is an acclaimed actor and activist whose dynamic career spans theatre, film, and television. He is best known for co-creating and later headlining the title role in the Broadway phenomenon Hamilton, succeeding Lin-Manuel Miranda. His Broadway breakthrough came with his starring turn as Usnavi in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In the Heights.
On screen, Javier has appeared in the dark comedy feature Monuments, opposite David Sullivan and Marguerite Moreau, the indie film Love Reconsidered, and the Paramount+ drama Three Months alongside Troye Sivan and Judy Greer. He also lends his voice to a leading character in Disney Jr.’s animated series Eureka! His television credits include recurring roles on Shadowhunters, Blindspot, and Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.
Beyond his artistic work, Javier is a passionate advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and global health equity. He serves as a Global Ambassador for (RED), the organization dedicated to ending HIV/AIDS, and is a longtime supporter of GMHC.
