CINCINNATI PLAYHOUSE IN THE PARK SUMMER THEATRE DAY CAMP
GIVES BUDDING YOUNG ACTORS THE CHANCE TO SHINE

First class sessions begin June 16 with sessions continuing through August

(CINCINNATI) Do you have a young Hamlet at home? Is there a mini Blanche Dubois growing up in your midst? Are you on the hunt for something entertaining, yet educational for your young theatre enthusiast this summer? The Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park still has spots available in its popular Summer Theatre Day Camp, with sessions being offered in June and July. Sessions are available for campers from kindergarten through high school and will focus on skills ranging from improvisational techniques to musical theatre.

Classes provide fun and in-depth explorations of a broad range of acting skills, from creative movement and improvisational activities (similar to those seen on television in WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY?) to the singing and dancing techniques needed to perform in Broadway-style musicals. All classes are taught by local theatre professionals and educators.

Classes are grouped into age categories beginning with students preparing to enter the third and fourth grades and continuing up to high school students. All classes take place in a friendly and non-intimidating learning environment. No previous acting or performing experience is required to participate.

The creative dramatics camp (for young children ages 5 to 7) is offered in one-week sessions, taking place the weeks of June 16, June 23, July 7, July 14 and July 21. The cost is $100. Most half-day Children’s Camp sessions run for two weeks on the following dates: June 16 – June 27, July 7 – July 18 and July 21 – August 1. Additional offerings for students through high school are also available Monday through Friday. The cost for these camps is $255. A very limited number of scholarships are available based on financial need and merit.

For more information or to request a brochure, contact the Playhouse administrative offices at 513/345-2242. Information and registration materials also are available online at www.cincyplay.com. (Reservations cannot be taken over the phone.)

Artists fly to and from Cincinnati on Delta Connection Comair, the Playhouse’s official airline.
The Playhouse is supported, in part, by the generosity of the tens of thousands of individuals and businesses that give to the Fine Arts Fund.

The Ohio Arts Council helps fund the Playhouse with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.

The Playhouse also receives funding from the City of Cincinnati and The Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile, Jr./U.S. Bank Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts.
