FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CINCINNATI PLAYHOUSE IN THE PARK LOOKING FOR CHILDREN TO APPEAR IN WORLD PREMIERE PRODUCTION OF 1:23 Deadline to submit materials for consideration is November 3 (CINCINNATI) – The Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park is looking for children to appear in its world premiere production of Carson Kreitzer’s 1:23. The show, a stunning and provocative new work that explores shades of gray within the darkest side of human behavior, runs February 3 through March 4, 2007. A powerful world-premiere drama from the playwright and director of The Love Song of J. Robert Oppenheimer, 1:23 is a collage inspired by several true cases. How do people become capable of things they never thought possible? What would bring a mother to kill her own child? The play uses the stories of Susan Smith and Andrea Yates among others, combining remarkable flights of fancy with actual testimony from police transcripts. While the show deals with very mature themes, it is not graphic in presentation. The play calls for two young boys to appear very briefly at the end of the show without speaking. The Playhouse is looking for boys between the ages of 4 and 6 who are less than 4 feet tall. Interested children should submit biographical information and a photograph (a good quality school or family photo is acceptable). Please indicate exact birth date and height. The children who are chosen will be called in near the end of the rehearsal process in late January, with most rehearsals scheduled around school hours. The roles likely will be cast with multiple performers so that selected children will perform two or three times each week. A stipend is paid. For consideration, please send information to the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, ATTN: AUDITIONS, c/o Michael Haney, P. O. Box 6537, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45206. All materials must be received at the Playhouse by Friday, November 3. Delta Connection Comair is the Playhouse’s official airline. The Playhouse is supported, in part, by the generosity of the tens of thousands of individuals and businesses that give to the Fine Arts Fund. The Ohio Arts Council helps fund the Playhouse with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans. The Playhouse also receives funding from the City of Cincinnati. ### |
