PLAYHOUSE IN THE PARK SEARCHES FOR SCROOGE LOOKALIKE
Win tickets to A Christmas Carol!
(CINCINNATI) – Are you plagued by know-it-all spirits in the middle of the night? Do your door knockers hold the ghostly faces of past business partners? As part of the 17th year of A CHRISTMAS CAROL, the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park is searching for the city’s humbuggiest of humbugs for its first-ever Ebenezer Scrooge Lookalike contest!
A CHRISTMAS CAROL remains one of the most cherished events of the holiday season. Written by Charles Dickens and adapted by Howard Dallin, the fable of Ebenezer Scrooge and his night among the spirits blends with dazzling costumes and special effects to create a fun-filled event for the entire family. The show features a cast of more than 30 performers, including nine area children and favorite local actor Bruce Cromer, reprising his role as Ebenezer Scrooge.
Contestants can enter to win in two separate categories:
- Show the judges why you are the penultimate Scrooge. The entrant most closely adhering to Dickens’ conventional and classic Scrooge persona will win this category. Contestants will be evaluated on appearance (not personality!)
- Your very own creative interpretation of a nontraditional Ebenezer Scrooge. Build a miserly snowman, dress up your dog or find your very own creative way to imitate the Playhouse’s favorite tightwad-turned-altruist.
The winner of each category will receive four tickets to this year’s production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL as well as a photo shoot with Bruce Cromer, the Playhouse’s own Ebenezer Scrooge.
The lookalike contest begins November 15 and runs until December 5. Contestants can submit an electronic photo entry with name, address and telephone number to scroogelookalike@cincyplay.com or mail entries to Ebenezer Scrooge Lookalike Competition, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, P.O Box 6537, Cincinnati, OH 45206.
Tickets are on sale now and prices for A CHRISTMAS CAROL range from $43 to $56 depending on day and seat location. For more information, contact the Playhouse Box Office at 513/421-3888 or online at www.cincyplay.com.
Artists fly to and from Cincinnati on Delta Connection Comair, the Playhouse’s official airline.
The Playhouse is supported, in part, by the generosity of the tens of thousands of individuals and businesses that give to the Fine Arts Fund.
The Ohio Arts Council helps fund the Playhouse with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.
The Playhouse also receives funding from the City of Cincinnati.
