Ken Ludwig's Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery

Marx Theatre | April 22 - May 20, 2017

Directed by Brendon Fox

Laugh at danger.
With equal parts comedy and adventure, Baskerville’s fast-moving, pulse-pounding and murderously funny ride plays out in grand scale, proving just how far from elementary the truth can be. The world’s favorite detective returns in the most famous case of his career. This time it’s the gloomy and foreboding world of fog, quicksand, moors and monsters that combine to create a dizzying web of clues. Sherlock Holmes and his faithful companion Dr. Watson must unravel them quickly if they hope to save the latest heir to the Baskerville fortune from a centuries-old curse. Grab your deerstalker and cape — the play’s afoot!

"Ingeniously funny ... will keep you guessing until the curtain call." — Broadway World

Advisory: Ken Ludwig's Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery is appropriate for adults and young people ages 11 and up. It's a thrilling whodunit, so there's talk of murder and mayhem, but no graphic violence and just mild adult language.

Running Time: The show runs approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes, including one intermission.

Bringing the Mystery to Life

Prologue, April 2017

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle published what he had planned to be his last Sherlock Holmes short story, “The Final Problem,” in 1894. It was the last appearance of the beloved detective, after Conan Doyle had published a series of stories that involved Holmes and his assistant Doctor Watson as they tackled exciting cases. The characters had garnered such a large and devoted fan base, however, that Conan Doyle ended up returning to the world of Holmes in 1901 to publish the crime novel The Hound of the Baskervilles.
