Mothers and Sons

By Terrence McNally

Thompson Shelterhouse | March 18 - April 17, 2016

What does family mean to you?
From the award-winning playwright of Love! Valour! Compassion! comes a gripping new drama about change, reconciliation and what it means to be a family. Cal and his husband Will have built a happy life with their child. Then the mother of Cal’s former lover makes a surprise visit to their Manhattan home — 20 years after her son’s untimely death. She’s a vibrant reminder of how much and how little has changed for a generation of gay men facing a future they never imagined. A 2014 Tony nominee for best play.

"Moving, intensely resonant ... an exceptionally timely play." — The Chicago Tribune

Join us on March 18 for Pride Night! Ticket includes a pre- and post-show reception partially benefiting GLSEN.

Advisory: Mothers and Sons is appropriate for adults and older teenage audiences. It’s a lovely story of reconciliation, but it does contain some strong adult language and other mature themes.

Running Time: Mothers and Sons runs approximately 90 minutes. The play is performed without an intermission.
